Meeting our obligations and more.
As you would expect from a responsible developer, Vanderbilt cares deeply about the effects construction can have on the environment. We take account of the levels of carbon dioxide emitted not only during the building process, but also during the lifespan of each dwelling. Building cleaner, greener homes for years to come.
While a development is being created, we apply measures to control and reduce dust and noise pollution, minimise the use of water, and salvage existing materials where possible. Labour and new materials are sourced locally too, further reducing the CO² emissions caused by transportation.
We set ourselves tough targets. When designing our developments, we aim to achieve a level of CO² emissions that is at least 25% better than required by law, by:
- Using high levels of environmentally-friendly insulation in the walls, floors and roofs
- Specifying high quality doors and windows
- Integrating renewable energy sources such as solar panels or photovoltaic cells
- Building in water saving devices that can reduce overall water consumption
This all combines to produce homes that are not only economical to run, but worthy of Level 3 of the Government’s preferred standards identifier “The Code for Sustainable Homes” – before it even becomes mandatory. However, Vanderbilt doesn’t believe in resting on its laurels, so we continue to evaluate ways to achieve even greater enhancements than those accomplished so far.
